Building an effective education-technology company means forming a strong team of educators. Presidio Education® team leaders have undergraduate and graduate training specific to their roles in English, teaching, publishing, technology, project management and sustainability. Our teachers have experience teaching public high school in California, United States. We continuously test our faculty with updated, timed tests to ensure our students receive the highest level of instruction.

Our Story

Founded in 2017, Presidio Education® is based in San Francisco, California, United States. Our name is inspired from the National Park Service’s Presidio of San Francisco. In high school, Ryan Young, Presidio Education® Founder and CEO, was Co-Founder and President of the Environmental Club. He helped arrange weekly volunteer service trips. Restoring precious ecosystems over the years provided a sense of fulfillment when Crissy Field was reopened for public use. This is why our name, Presidio Education®, genuinely hits close to the heart.

Stories from Our Founder

San Francisco, The Sanctuary City

On Saturday, October 31, 2020, our team drove around San Francisco donating new backpacks filled with hygiene supplies for the homeless. We called this our SF Impact Project 2020

In 2019, the City and County of San Francisco estimated 9,808 homeless people scattered across the city. Unfortunately, with COVID-19, many homeless in San Francisco have been forced out of shelters for fear of spreading this deadly virus. This means many homeless are now on the streets without food, water, masks, sanitizers and medical treatment. Many, who heavily depend on treatment for mental illnesses, are now back on the streets without any medication or protection.

Homeless often struggle to get their lives on track. Yes, some may have drug problems, as we encountered, or even have criminal records, which is why they cannot secure employment. But to give up on these people would not be the San Francisco way. We believe in treating each other with dignity and kindness. We believe in second chances.

We would like to thank everyone who helped make our SF Impact Project 2020 possible. Many drove around the Bay Area back and forth to pick up giant boxes full of supplies, stayed up late to inventory and package, assembled water bottles and distributed backpacks. Many sacrificed their time outside of work to give back to our homeless community. We are thankful for all the teamwork and compassion.

Our Sustainability Mission

When we founded Presidio Education® in 2017, we started brainstorming ways to develop our sustainability mission. Besides regular volunteering, Yunju Chen, Director of Product Management, suggested flying our team overseas to hand-deliver new school supplies to impoverished children. Unfortunately, at the time we had neither the resources nor the infrastructure to effectively execute that goal.

After a year of building, we finally had enough resources, logistical support and team members to launch our first Presidio Impact project called the Cebu Impact Project. We chose Cebu City, Cebu, Philippines, because one of our faculty members, Kenley Lou, Social Science Teacher, was raised in this beautiful city. As a regular Red Cross volunteer in Cebu, he truly understood all the poverty that Cebuano children endure.

In summer 2018, we flew part of our faculty, staff and college intern teams to Cebu City, Cebu, Philippines, to hand-deliver 280 handpicked backpacks filled with school supplies to impoverished first graders from the Hipodromo Elementary School and Adlaon Integrated School

We want to thank everyone who helped make our Cebu Impact Project possible. While we received logistical support from our partners in Hong Kong and our new local government contacts in Cebu, we also received much design, photography and supply chain support from many new friends. Many donated their time, energy and resources all for this single cause.

Presidio Impact projects are not about Founders, CEOs, nor any one individual taking credit. We are about teamwork. I would not have the privilege of being a part of the Cebu Impact Project if not for the innovation, drive and compassion from everyone on our team.
