Meet Diva Wong
Sustainability Logistics (

College Intern)

Diva attends college in the United Kingdom and majors in psychology. She enjoys helping people relieve stress by offering an open ear. She is also very interested in exploring how the human psyche works. Diva recommends aspiring college students to always start early on assignments and not to procrastinate, which are proactive measures in reducing stress.

Students need to be proactive with taking care of their mental, emotional and physical health. Without proper well-being, emotions may become bottled up, which may lead to stress, anxiety, or even depression. Finding a healthy balance between exercising and resting is a good start towards building confidence. Students must prioritize their own health and find the courage to seek immediate help from trained professionals.

Mental Health

Opening up about one’s mental health shows great courage and strength. Proper time management, planning, organization and implementation will help students complete tasks effectively, which will provide a sense of accomplishment and relief. In addition, students should find positive outlets to relieve stress. Positive outlets may include reading a book, working out at the gym, or going out with friends. Talking out issues with support groups, counselors, family and friends is often a proactive solution to improving mental health.

Emotional Health

Emotional problems are often hard to identify and further difficult to resolve, which is why students must find positive outlets when coping. Students must have the strength and courage to admit when they need help with challenging emotional issues. Talking with trusted family or friends can help students sort out feelings. There is also no shame with obtaining help from trained professionals. Students should not bottle up emotions, but remain rational and objective without basing decisions solely on emotion.


Physical Health

Regularly exercising, eating healthy and getting enough rest are the three components for upholding physical health. In addition to reducing the chances of heart disease, stroke and obesity, regular exercise improves sleep and reduces stress. Students must also choose healthy food options and drink plenty of water daily instead of depending on fast food, sugar and caffeine. Healthy diets are crucial for longevity. Most importantly, students must avoid drugs, smoking and underage drinking. Students must never give in to peer pressure.

Finding Help

Whether facing abuse, contemplating self-harm, or wanting to help others, students must have the courage to seek immediate help from trusted health and emergency professionals. Students may seek help from hospitals, school counseling offices, or the police. If students observe a crime against a stranger, students should make reports to the police. If a friend’s safety is in jeopardy, these emergencies must be immediately reported to the police, federal law enforcement, teachers, or other emergency professionals. Students must not be afraid to protect one another.
